At the beginning of the current training year, a total of around 300 young people will start their careers at Schaeffler. Schaeffler offers young employees apprenticeships in the commercial and industrial-technical fields at numerous German locations. In addition, school leavers begin a “two in one” course, which combines training with technical studies. Numerous high school graduates have decided on a dual course of study from October 1st.
Impulses and a breath of fresh air
"For us that means: 300 times new impulses for the future of Schaeffler, 300 times a breath of fresh air in our training teams and 300 times we talk together about expectations and goals and personal developments," says Uwe Kando, Head of Training for Germany at Schaeffler. "Due to the corona pandemic, there is still a balancing act between distance and personal support - but we are well prepared," says Kando.
Trainees satisfied with company and career choice
The company introduced an e-learning platform last year, and new and digital forms of collaboration have been part of professional life from the start. However, Kando also says: “Despite and precisely because of the virtual possibilities, we attach particular importance to interpersonal exchange.” Personal feedback discussions and stays at other locations are firmly planned for this in order to consolidate and expand our own network.
Schaeffler's modern training concept is convincing. A recent global internal survey showed that 88 percent of Schaeffler trainees and students would make the same career choice again. Nine out of ten people are already sure during their training that they want to stay with the company after they have successfully completed their training.
Comprehensive range of apprenticeships at Schaeffler
In total, there are more than 1,200 people in training at Schaeffler in Germany. The technology company offers 22 industrial-technical or commercial professions as well as the possibility of 18 different dual courses of study.
For the first time this autumn, dual students will start a computer science course with a focus on cyber security at the company's headquarters in Herzogenaurach. The electrical engineering course with a focus on energy technology is also new.
